What type of property is covered?
All the normal items found in the home, with some exclusions – for instance, business equipment, customized software, live plants and animals.
Items not usually found in a home are not covered.
When Coverage Applies
When the shipment is professionally packed and a detailed inventory of the property is made. If the inventory has a value for each item, then the total value must equal at least $8.00 per pound of the weight of the entire shipment if moving domestically, $10.00 per pound if moving internationally. If the inventory does not have a separate value shown for each item, then the total value must be equal to at least $8.00 per pound of the entire shipment if moving domestically, or $10.00 per pound if you are moving internationally.
Shipment must be handled by a professional mover who has been designated as a “Quality Assured Mover” by Insuramove.com.
Note – High Value Items: Each item having a stated value in excess of $1,500 must be individually declared, and be supported by appraisals or sales receipts. Failure to do so will limit the amount of coverage you have for such property to $1,500 per item, set or pair.

In no event can this coverage be cancelled once the moving process (packing and/or loading) has begun.
What Are My Responsibilities?
In addition to the need to properly inventory, value and declare your property, there are some additional specific responsibilities that you have:
It is your duty (or the duty of someone you appoint or hire) to always take reasonable measures to avert or lessen the effect of a loss. Further, it is your duty to ensure that all legal rights of recovery against potentially responsible carriers, bailees and other third parties are properly preserved and exercised. In the event of loss or damage, IMMEDIATELY notify, in writing, the delivering carrier (and if your shipment has moved by a steamship or airline, those carriers as well), telling them that damage or loss has occurred.
In the event of loss or damage, you must log on to our claims reporting website at http://www.insuramove.com using the password and login information you were provided, within 48 hours to notify us.
You must cooperate with the insurer in investigating the loss. The insurer reserves the right to inspect and investigate all damages, and require substantiation of proof of value and ownership.
You must allow the insurers the right to take custody of and salvage any damaged items after the insurance has replaced or paid the replacement cost or the full amount of value declared by you on the inventory for an item.
After the time of payment of any recoverable claim under this insurance, you must sign a Subrogation receipt which allows the insurer to pursue recovery of all or part of a loss from any other third parties who may be responsible or have a liability for it.
You have the obligation of providing complete and accurate information. This insurance will be void if you have concealed or misrepresented any material fact or circumstance.
If you authorize someone other than yourself to order this insurance, you must ensure that that person is also aware of the policy terms and conditions.
At the time of loading, you must sign, and obtain the mover’s signature, on the inventory you prepared.
What other terms should I be aware of?
All property insured must be in the care, custody and control of, and handled by, a “Quality Assured Mover”.
If insured property is loaded out of storage, self-storage, or another mover’s facility, where no coverage had been previously provided by the Insuramove.com insurer, a complete and descriptive inventory must be prepared, identifying each item and its physical condition. Any packed or crated box or package will be considered as “packed by owner”, and covered for “Limited Conditions” only. Further, lack of such an inventory will restrict coverage to “Limited Coverage” only.
In case of a shipment being loaded and/or unloaded by any person other than a “Quality Assured Mover”, the property shall be insured for “Limited Coverage” only.
If you are considering the services of a moving broker, or a mover or carrier other than a “Quality Assured Mover”, please contact Insuramove.com. When we obtain full details from you, we can consider approving such alternate service providers. However, no coverage is available for such alternates until written confirmation of same if provided to you.
All items requiring specialized assembly or disassembly services (such as grandfather clocks, pool tables, wall units, chandeliers, Jacuzzis, etc.) must be handled only by a certified third party service specializing in handling that type of item.
Any hoisting, detaching from walls or permanent installation, removal of air conditioners, etc., must be performed by a certified professional third party service.
In the event you learn that the mover with which you have contracted is sub-contracting the shipment and/or handling to another moving company which is not certified by Insuramove.com as a “Quality Assured Mover”, you must notify Insuramove.com of the change as soon as is practicable.
Please read and review the full policy terms and conditions at http://www.insuramove.com/about/policy.html
Failure to follow the terms and conditions may void your coverage.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Insuramove.com and we will be happy to address them.
